About us
MicroSteer addresses a critical healthcare need of intraoperative removal of submucosal lesions.
MicroSteer is a microsurgery company focused on the development of proprietary advanced yet simple solutions for polyp removal.
Established in 2020 by Ofer Pillar & Adi Strauss, seasoned entrepreneurs with extensive GI experience, and led by Eyal Ben-Esti, an accomplished MedTech leader, MicroSteer is changing the polypectomy paradigm.
Technology
Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) is a specialized endoscopic procedure that is used to remove precancerous or cancerous growths in the digestive tract. It is the ideal resection method as it enables complete en-bloc resection of GI tract lesions without the need for surgery.
MicroSteer Ltd. is developing a novel, semi-automated technology for complex polypectomies associated with EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection) and ESD. MicroSteer’s device is the first steered polypectomy device, enabling endoscopists a safer and faster procedure, currently executed only by highly experienced interventional gastroenterologists. The technology facilitates a range of adjustable cutting devices moving along a pre-defined, programmed exact track.
Market
The number of ESD procedures performed has been constantly increasing in recent years due to the rising incidence of GI cancer cases, and the development of endoscopic technology. ESD has become the gold standard in Japan, South Korea, and China, despite longer procedure time compared to alternative resection or surgery, lengthy learning curve and a limited number of endoscopists who can perform it.
The technology has a market potential of ~9 million procedures annually worldwide, representing an addressable multibillion USD market.
