Microsteer

An endoscopic addon device for the removal of large and/or flat  polyps in the GI tract

Technology

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a specialized endoscopic procedure that is used to remove precancerous or cancerous growths in the digestive tract. It is the ideal resection method as it enables complete resection of GI tract lesions without the need for surgery.

MicroSteer Ltd. is developing a novel, semi-automated technology for complex polypectomies associated with EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection) and ESD. The Phalcon-1™ is the first steered polypectomy device, enabling users a safer & faster procedure, currently executed only by highly experienced interventional gastroenterologists. The technology facilitates a range of adjustable cutting devices moving along a pre-defined, programmed exact track. The Phalcon-1™ is useable via a standard endoscope working channel.

Market

The number of ESD procedures performed has been constantly increasing in recent years due to the rising incidence of GI cancer cases, and the development of endoscopic technology. ESD has become the gold standard in Japan, South Korea, and China, despite longer procedures as compared to alternative resection or surgery, lengthy learning curve and a limited number of endoscopists who can perform it.

The system has a market potential of ~9 million procedures annually worldwide (2018), representing an addressable multibillion USD market.
